Mark Dumas is Culmen International's Chief Strategy Officer and SVP of the Technology, Research, Analysis and Development Division. He leads the development of advanced analytical and security-oriented solutions that help governments and international partners anticipate threats, strengthen resilience, and enhance safety, stability, and mission effectiveness. Mark is a entrepreneur, geospatial scientist and technology innovator with more than 28 years of experience including a 3-time patent inventor.
Prior to joining Culmen, Mark functioned as the founder and Chief Strategy Officer for PlanetRisk where he tackled new ideas and concepts around global big data and risk analytics for predictive intelligence to Fortune 500 as well as the Federal Government. PlanetRisk exited in 2018, whereupon a subsidiary was acquired by Culmen leading to Mark's addition to the Culmen executive team. Mark also was the successful founder and CEO of SPADAC, a leader in geospatial intelligence that became a part of then NASDAQ-listed GeoEye in 2010. A highlight at SPADAC was a 2004 ceremonial commendation presented by then Gen. Stanley McChrystal for Mark's contribution in applying predictive analytics to overseas campaigns.
Mark holds an Electrical Engineering degree from Mississippi State University and an MBA from Duke's Fuqua School of Buiness. Through the years has been a community volunteer such as a Cubmaster with Boy Scouts of America and a youth basketball coach. He has served as an advisor to the College of Engineering at MSU and was bestowed the honor of a Distinguished Fellow in 2012. In November of 2022, Mark published his first book titled Where There’s A Will, a historical coming of age novel based on the early life of his grandfather, William Miner. In 2023, Mark co-founded a venture capital firm called Okeanos where he serves on its board.
