Strengthening Regional Aviation Security Through Operational Exchange in Jordan
By: Haneen Abu Saif
Behind every secure airport operation is a network of professionals making real-time decisions to protect passengers, maintain efficiency, and respond to evolving threats. Earlier this month in Jordan, aviation security representatives from Libya had the opportunity to observe those operations firsthand through a collaborative experience-sharing visit at QAIA.
As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen regional aviation security cooperation and operational capacity building, Culmen International recently coordinated and facilitated a state-to-state aviation security experience-sharing visit to Jordan’s Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) for a delegation of Libyan aviation security representatives.
Held on May 3–4, 2026, the visit brought together 10 representatives from multiple Libyan aviation and security agencies for an in-depth look at airport operations and aviation security practices at one of the region’s leading international airports.
The initiative also reflected the spirit of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) “No Country Left Behind” approach by encouraging operational cooperation and practical capacity building between aviation partners in the region.
During the visit, delegates were exposed to a wide range of airport operations and aviation security practices, with discussions and observations focusing on areas such as airport security coordination, access control systems, passenger and baggage screening operations, quality control and compliance practices, aviation security training, crisis and incident management, and interagency cooperation.
Throughout the visit, the team at QAIA demonstrated exceptional professionalism, transparency, and operational openness, fostering an environment that encouraged candid technical discussions and collaborative learning. Delegates were able to observe firsthand how operational coordination, security procedures, and stakeholder collaboration are integrated across airport functions to support both operational efficiency and aviation security outcomes.
On a personal level, the visit carried special meaning for me. Returning to QAIA after 13 years — this time as a visitor rather than as airport staff — was both emotional and inspiring. Seeing firsthand the level of development, and progress achieved over the years was a proud moment as both an aviation security professional and a Jordanian. Experience-sharing initiatives such as this play an important role in strengthening institutional relationships and advancing sustainable aviation security development across the region. By facilitating direct engagement between operational counterparts, these visits help support long-term capacity building while encouraging the exchange of practical solutions, lessons learned, and operational best practices.
Culmen International remains committed to supporting aviation security partners through collaborative engagement, technical expertise, and operationally focused capacity-building initiatives designed to strengthen readiness, resilience, and regional cooperation.
We extend our sincere appreciation to the leadership and teams at Queen Alia International Airport for their hospitality, professionalism, transparency, and continued support of regional aviation security cooperation efforts.
